In addition to carving hundreds of full size working decoys, Maynard Caine also spent much of his time carving song birds such as this Blue Jay. This one was carved and given as a gift (see bottom photo).

Shown here is a solid wood handcarved and painted Blue Jay perched on a stump.

This fellow has glass eyes, and a character that can only be appreciated when holding it in your hand. The scale is 100% life size and the colors are true to life. Extra carving detail shows in the wings, tail feathers, and bill.

The figurine measures 10-1/2" high. The bird measures 9-1/2" tip to tip. Near mint condition, with a couple of very tiny paint flecs.
