The Adams Westlake Company of Chicago, Ill. was founded in 1857.

They made a variety of railroad related equipment.

They also made bicycles, bicycle lamps, and cameras as noted in this advertisement from around 1896 (Prof. Roentgen discovered the X-ray in Nov 1895).

The company later moved to Indiana and continues as a manufacturing company to this day.
